Dresses for the "non-flower girls"

So the grand daughters were not going to be flower girls but now they want to be flower girls. We haven't decided what that means til we get to rehearsal to see if they will still want to do it or not. The oldest grand daughter did not perform so well at her grandfather's wedding, however she was only 2 then. The girls are now 6 and 3 so they could do really well.

So in the effort to make them feel wedding-like I was looking at flower girl dresses and couldn't believe the prices and then I stumbled on tutus! I was going to buy two and they were still about $35 each plus tax, shipping and with only 27 days to go, not even sure they would get here in time in the colours I want.

So since Google is my friend, I googled instructions and now I am going to attempt to make them myself.

Here is a photo from a website that I found during my search. There are many more but this is the length I like.

These are even more gorgeous, not sure if I can make this one.

But I might be able to make this one and they could wear a fancy tank top.

Here are some more via Google image search.

Wedding planning update

It has been awhile since I updated but things are still progressing with only 27 days to go.

So the caterer situation changed but the bride has met with the caterer and sorted out the menu.

The floorplan for the tables is organized.

Tablecloths have been sourced.

Flowers have been purchased for the tables.

Candles have been purchased.

Invitations were completed by the fabulous cousins and all mailed out. I will take a photo and post them shortly.

I am working on the place cards and we have a few more things to do this week when the bride returns from visiting her youngest daughter and grandsons in Newfoundland.

We still have to meet with the cake lady and the jewelry designer.

Dinner is served

After a few false leads it looks like we may have a caterer for the dinner. A special friend of mine that does fabulous meals is meeting with me this week to bang out the details. It is going to be great and I get to introduce him to all my family! He has been keeping me fed at work for 15 years!

Flowers: Calla Lilies - My favourite so far

This is my favourite so far, I have some changes to make to it but will give this one a go and see what the bride says.

I am going to use some round floral beads that absorb water, pearls and rhinestones in the water instead of the stones you see here!

Cake inspiration from Bella Cupcakes

OMG I just found a very inspirational site: http://bellacupcakes.blogspot.com/

I downloaded some inspiration photos from her work in black and cream. Visit her site to see more colours!

Flowers: Calla Lilies

The bride loves calla lilies, they are exquisite but so hard to design with. I have been scouring the internet to find some easy, inexpensive ideas.

I did consider silk calla lilies for the tables but didn't find they looked as nice as real.

I will compile my inspirational photos in this thread and remove the ones I don't like as I go.

The Cake and Cupcakes

The cake is being designed and created by the lovely Rose Leworthy, cake maker extraordinaire and best friend of Kirby. She makes beautiful fondant creations.

The cake will consist on one round chocolate grooms cake and a pile of vanilla cupcakes.

They will follow the theme of the invitations, cream and black, circles and pearls.

Design to be determined by the invitation creation.

I am getting hungry just thinking about it!

Invitations

The wedding invitations are being designed by the creative crack team of my cousin the Stampin Up demonstrator Tammy Cutler and her lovely sister Megan Cutler. Their equally lovely sister Kirby Rowsell is on board too. Photos will be loaded when the samples are available.

These talented ladies will also be contributing to the hall decor. We are going for Cricut Chic!

Don't know what a Cricut is? Check out www.cricut.com

The Wedding Colours, flowers & bling

The bride and groom have chosen an elegant cream and black colour scheme for their nuptials.

The recurring theme will be circles.

The flowers will be calla lilies.

The bride will wear pearls and rhinestones.

Planning the Nagasaka Wedding

Two special people are getting married in July, P & L. While helping plan their wedding I thought I would create a small blog to capture the wedding ideas so that the many helpers doing their party to make this special day happen can share their ideas.

Once the big day has arrived we can post photos of the celebration!

The posts will be random and in no particular order. Just going to throw everything here and watch the journey unfold.

Here we go!
